Our words create their world
A life lived in love will never be dull
I’ve always been captivated by the power of words. I’d read them, hear them, hide behind them, express myself through them, and put them into songs. But what fascinated me the most was how they could both create and destroy, depending on how they were combined.
Just before my son was born, I spent weeks carefully crafting what I wanted to tell him. I don’t remember if I stuck to the plan, but 9 years later, he still asks me to repeat that first conversation that started with "Welcome to the world little one. It's going to be an amazing ride".
ALTR was a project we started together after I created an “I am enough” sign for his room. I wanted it to be the first thing he said to himself when he woke up and the last thing he read when he went to sleep. I believe that the most important conversations are the ones we have with ourselves; the ones that loop in our own minds. I wanted to surround him with wisdom, love, and words that inspire integrity and self-worth.
One of the biggest thrills we get is in working with some of the industry's most talented minds. Seeing our pieces come to life through the lens of incredible photographers, brilliant event planners and gorgeous models - never gets old.
In some small way, I feel part of our couple's special day. I know they'll look upon these photos for years to come; many of them who have illuminated the words they began their lives together with. It's nice to think that those same words might inspire their many years ahead, and in some small way, we had an opportunity to contribute.
These photos were taken as part of a Western meets grunge inspo shoot that was later featured in Canada's "Today's Bride" Magazine in 2021. Josie Nicole (@josienicolephoto) was inspired by couples that don't follow your average wedding traditions.
